Well a shoe is a boring thing, not much to talk about but not mine. You may not think a shoe has been on many adventures but believe me this one has. My shoe is brown with some grey in it. It has strappy laces and they are very comfortable, the soles have a soft cushion inside, the sides have mesh material and small holes to breath. My adventure started off on 5th of April 2008 when I was going on a two week holiday to Borneo with my shoes. Yes Borneo. My shoes had never heard of it. We will tell you some things about it. Borneo is an island covered with rainforest, palm trees and many beautiful places to visit in it. It is home to some animals such as Orang-utans and of course the Proboscis monkey. First we were on a plane for 1 hour to London. Not much of an adventure I know but the rest is all to come. These shoes walked around for absolute ages. Finally we boarded the plane to sunny Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The flight was 14 hours long but the shoes had a rest as i took them off there was a bit of a whiff though!!!! After a long time of waiting we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and it was very busy. There was many tourists around rushing to go and see all the sights. Sometimes my shoes were stood on.There was lots of cars and taxis. The thing that my shoes experienced most was the smell of the sewers below. The grid was wide so you could see down at the murky orange waters and the heat didn't help one little bit. My shoes went on the tallest twin towers in the world, the Petronas towers. but the good news is my shoes didn't have to walk all the way up to the towering building as there was a large lift. What a sight the shoes could see sneaking a look from the bridge between the two towers. We could see lots of buildings some with palm trees and swimming pool's on top, now that’s quite cool isn’t it? Anyway after a couple of days of eating, shopping sleeping and exploring. It was time to move on to our next place BORNEO!!!! We travelled to Kuala LumpurAirport in about 15 minutes. On our way to the airport we saw many cool things such as lovely gardens filled with some colourul and exotic flowers which reminded me of all the colours of the rainbow. My lazy shoes had another 2 and a half hour rest on the flight to Sandakan but mind you i might have had a kip as well. By this time me and my shoes were really tired and when we arrived we were struggling to keep awake.
More travelling this time in a bus along a winding dusty road. My shoes couldn't see much as they were at the bottom of the bus but i could see everything. I passed many plam trees, the man told us that these trees were used to make oil. i was wondering why they needed so much. We arrived at Sepilok Orrangutan Reserve. I was really excited about seeing the animals. Inside my stomach was doing somersaults, i wish my shoes could do the same. This is when the hard work for the shoes started. As i was entering the rainforest i was looking about for orangutans but all i could see was thousands and thousands of trees. Some small barely reaching my head, and others so tall that i couldn't see the tops of them, it was like they never stopped growing. As i heard the ranger call out for dinnertime my shoes carried me over to where the booming voice was coming from. Suddenly the branches nearest to him started to rustle, and out came an orangutan, my heart was racing. Me and my shoes were speechless, well my shoes don't talk much but on this occasion they were silent. One after another came the orangutans. Varying in size, some big and strong others small and weak. Their faces were wrinkled and and weirdly they looked a little like me, now i understand why my mum always calls me a cheeky monkey. All of the orangutans were clambering over trees, ropes, wood and anything they could balance on just to get to their food. Funnily enough instead of eating all the food some of the monkey's took a liking to sucking their toes. After dinnertime was over all the silly orange apes decided to stay around just incase there might be any scraps left.
